In Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled Madhya Pradesh’s Damoh, civic officials demolished multiple animal slaughterhouses in a move directly targeting the livelihoods of Muslims and Dalits. These discriminatory demolitions have become part of a larger trend as authorities bulldozed meat shops in Ujjain last month, after the state’s Hindu militant group-affiliated Chief Minister, Mohan Yadav, declared restrictions on the sale of meat and eggs in open spaces.
