Uttar Pradesh: Muslim Auto Driver Tied Up, Thrashed for Refusing to Chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’
A Muslim auto-rickshaw driver in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh was reportedly beaten up by three men on Wednesday, July 3 for refusing to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’.
Per a report in Amar Ujala, the incident took place in Babu Purwa area of Kanpur. Three men allegedly tied up Atib, the victim, inside a Sulabh toilet and assaulted him with bricks and stones. The family of the victim said that he was driving his auto-rickshaw when the three attackers – Sumit, Rajesh and Shiva – got inside his auto and asked to be dropped at another location.
Upon reaching the destination, they started quarrelling with him, claiming they did not have any money to pay the fare. During this, they asked him to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and when Atib refused, took him to the nearby Sulabh toilet and thrashed him.…
