Statement on Heinous Murder of a Hindu Tailor in Rajasthan
The Indian American Muslim Council strongly and unequivocally condemns the heinous murder of a Hindu tailor in Udaipur, Rajasthan, by extremists claiming to be acting in the name of Islam. The beheadings not only violate the law and the teachings of Islam but they have also been condemned unanimously by the entire Muslim community. As such this barbaric act is neither representative of Islam nor Muslims.
“The tailor victim was a Hindu, attacked & beheaded for supporting former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma. We condemn this gruesome, horrifying murder and call upon Indian authorities to hold the perpetrators accountable while maintaining the peace & encouraging communal harmony,” said Rasheed Ahmed, IAMC Executive Director.
