Slum dwellers attacked over false allegations of being Bangladeshi
In Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad, Hindu extremists from the Hindu Raksha Dal attacked slum dwellers, accusing them of being Bangladeshis. The attackers used sticks to beat the residents and set their shanties on fire, claiming that the attack was in retaliation for the targeting of Hindus in Bangladesh.
After recent political upheaval in Bangladesh, Hindu extremist social media pushed multiple fake claims about attacks against members of the Hindu community in Bangladesh, to encourage hatred and violence against Indian Muslims.
BJP members target Bengali-speaking workers, label them “Bangladeshi infiltrators”
Members of the BJP detained 34 people in Odisha’s Sambalpur, falsely accusing them of being Bangladeshi nationals. The detainees were handed over to the police, but were later released after authorities confirmed they were not from Bangladesh.
Hindu right-wing groups have been targeting Muslims in various parts of the country, accusing them of being “Bangladeshi infiltrators.” At least four videos have surfaced, showing attacks on Bengali-speaking Muslims in Odisha.
Muslim minor choked by Hindu extremists, forced to say “Jai Sri Ram”
In Bihar’s Muzaffarpur, a group of Hindu extremists choked a Muslim teenager and forced him to chant the Hindu supremacist warcry “Jai Shri Ram.”
A video clip of the incident went viral on social media, showing them assaulting the Muslim minor, Rehan, by choking his throat with his leg for refusing to chant the slogan. Police have arrested three attackers – Sant Kumar, Chandan, and Golu.
Around $30,000 worth of property seized over alleged cow smuggling
In Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, police officials confiscated a house worth around 30,000 USD belonging to an alleged “cattle smuggler.”
Recently, in Pilibhit, authorities confiscated property worth over $151,000 belonging to a Muslim man over allegations of involvement in cattle smuggling. They also confiscated a Muslim man’s house and property worth around $19,400 over allegations of selling beef.
Hindu extremists threaten gruesome violence against Bangladeshis, Rohingya
In Maharashtra, Hindu extremists at a rally organized by the Antarrashtriya Hindu Parishad issued open calls for gruesome violence during a protest against violence faced by Hindus in Bangladesh.
“If they kiII Hindus there, we will also cut peopLe here and throw them in drains,” one speaker said.
In Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, Hindu preacher Raju Das and other Hindu monks threatened attacks against the Bangladeshi and Rohingya refugees residing in India.
