Police seize property, belongings of Muslim men over accusation of cow slaughter
In BJP-ruled Uttarakhand’s Haridwar, police officials seized the properties of two Muslim men accused of cow slaughter. Their belongings – including tractors, beds, furniture, electronics and doors from their homes – were also confiscated by the police, who claimed that the men had acquired these items through cow slaughter.
Hindu extremists assault Muslim men attending Hindu festival celebrations
In Madhya Pradesh’s Guna, Hindu extremists from the Hindu Jagran Manch intruded a Hindu festival’s celebration and caught and physically assaulted Muslim men attending the event, and handed them over to the police.
Hindu militants have been intruding Hindu festival celebrations to harass and police Muslims, baselessly claiming that Muslim men join them to indulge in “love jihad.”
11 Christian women arrested on false charges of forced conversion
Eleven Christian women evangelists, along with seven other Christian men and women, were arrested and arraigned on false charges of trying to forcefully convert Hindu schoolchildren in Bhagwanpur, Bihar.
The principal of a school had permitted the evangelists to distribute the Christian literature among students. However, the local lawmaker threatened the principal and forced him to lodge a complaint accusing the women of attempting to unlawfully convert the students.
Christians across states have been arrested under India’s draconian anti-conversion law, which criminalizes conversion away from Hinduism.
Muslim journalist booked for sharing video of hatemonger Yati Narsinghanand
Police in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad have booked journalist and fact checker Mohammed Zubair for his post on social media platform X about serial hatemonger Yati Narsinghanand.
Zubair was booked based on a complaint made by Narsinghanand’s aide, Udita Tyagi, who alleged that Zubair posted an old clip of Narsinghanand to provoke violence against him.
Narsinghanand was heard inciting people to burn Prophet Muhammad’s effigies at an event on September 29, triggering outrage and protests from Muslims.
Thousands of Muslims protest, demand withdrawal of Waqf Amendment Bill
In a massive show of dissent, thousands of Muslims gathered in Tamil Nadu’s Chennai to protest against the the federal government’s proposed bill to amend theexisting Waqf laws.
Protesters stated that the amendments are discriminatory towards Muslims and weaken protections for Waqf properties by reducing penalties for encroachment. The protest’s leaders unanimously called for the immediate withdrawal of the bill, describing its provisions as unconstitutional and a threat to the functioning of Waqf Boards.
