The complaint followed Zubair’s post on X, where he described Narsinghanand’s speech as “derogatory and hateful.” Alt News issued a statement condemning the charges, calling them an example of “state machinery being used to intimidate individuals and organizations committed to exposing hate and misinformation.”

Family of 72-year-old Muslim leader calls for urgent action over medical neglect in jail
The family and legal representatives of E. Abubacker, a 72-year-old activist who has been imprisoned for over two years, have called for urgent intervention in his case. Despite his critical health needs, including Parkinson’s disease, diabetes, and a history of cancer, Abubacker has faced ongoing neglect in terms of medical treatment. Earlier this year, a court had denied him bail and refused to place him under house arrest despite these health issues.
Abubacker is the former chairman of the now-banned Indian Muslim outfit Popular Front of India (PFI). Over 350 people have been arrested in dozens of raids by India’s federal investigation agency, a crackdown that has been slammed by civil rights groups and activists.
