Police arrest 4 after Hindu supremacists accuse Christians of forced conversion

In far-right Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled Madhya Pradesh state, Hindu supremacists harassed local Christians and pressured police into arresting four Christians over allegations of forced religious conversion. Police also confiscated religious literature. 

 Also in Madhya Pradesh, Hindu militant group Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Azad Prem Singh called for violence against Christian missionaries. Anti-Christian hate and harassment remains on the rise throughout India.

Assam Chief Minister says over 1,000 private madrassas to be shut down

Assam Chief Minister and vocal Hindu supremacist  Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that his state government is in the process of shutting down 1,000 private Islamic seminaries (madrassas) in Assam.

The announcement comes after the government began an initiative to shut down all government-run madrassas in the state, converting them to general schools. Sarma had earlier said that he was proud of getting madrassas across the state shut down. 

BJP leader threatens demolition of historic mosque, calls for creation of Hindu nation

In the capital city of Delhi, BJP leader Jai Bhagwan Goyal issued an ultimatum to Muslims in which he demanded the destruction of the historic Shahi Eidgah Mosque in Mathura city, threatening to repeat the 1992 demolition of the Babri mosque by Hindu extremists. He further called for turning India into a Hindu nation.

Far-right Hindu leaders paddle hate against Rohingya refugees, Muslims

In Pune, Maharashtra, a leader of the supremacist group Hindu Rashtra Sena, Dhananjay Desai, delivered an inflammatory speech targeting Muslims living in Muslim-majority areas, while also peddling hate and fear towards Rohingya refugees.

In Nurpur, Himachal Pradesh, far-right group Hindu Jagran Manch leader Kamal Gautam delivered hate speech promoting anti-Muslim sentiments.
