Parts of prominent mosque demolished by officials in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh
Civic officials in Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar demolished parts of a three-story mosque, the Madni Masjid, after a BJP leader claimed that the mosque allegedly encroached some part of the government land.
The mosque is the latest target of Hindu supremacist chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s bulldozer actions. Despite the Supreme Court guidelines, the government continues to violate the guidelines, bulldozing properties, religious and residential – mostly belonging to Muslims.
Muslim man assaulted by Hindu extremists in court over interfaith marriage
In BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal, a mob of Hindu extremists assaulted a Muslim man at a court, falsely accusing him of indulging in “love jihad.” The attack took place when an interfaith couple was at the court for marriage verification procedures.
Accusations of “love jihad,” a debunked anti-Muslim conspiracy theory that alleges Muslim men seduce Hindu women to convert them to Islam, have led to a surge in violence against interfaith couples.
Hindu extremists assault men over buffalo transport
In Maharashtra’s Nashik, Hindu extremist cow vigilantes assaulted two men transporting buffaloes, accusing them of taking the buffaloes to slaughter. In Uttarakhand’s Haridwar, Hindu extremists along with police officials raided a house, detained six people alleging cow smuggling, and seized a cow. In similar incidents in Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, Hindu extremists detained four men transporting cattle, claiming them to be cow smugglers.
Hindu militants conduct firearms training for members at school in Odisha
In Odisha’s Puri, Hindu militants from the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal conducted a weapon training session at a school affiliated with the notorious Hindu paramilitary group Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, where members were trained in handling firearms. During the seven-day training session, Hindu extremists were trained in handling guns and lathis.
The growing push for arming violent Hindu supremacists is a cause of concern for the minority Muslim community, who are being threatened with mass slaughter by Hindu extremist groups.
