One dead, 12 injured after communal violence in Rajasthan

In Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh, a Hindu religious procession blasted loud music while passing by a mosque during prayer time, leading to an altercation. The resulting violence left one dead and 12 injured.

Hindu processions passing through Muslim-majority areas have often vandalized mosques and attacked Muslims and their properties.

Muslim man beaten up, threatened with death for speaking to Hindu woman

In Karnataka’s Yadgir, a Muslim man was violently assaulted by Hindu extremists from the Hindu militant group Bajrang Dal for allegedly speaking to a Hindu woman.

The extremists abducted the victim and took him to a room, where he was beaten up. The men threatened to kill him if he spoke to the woman again.

Muslim student commits suicide, family alleges torture over Muslim identity

A 15-year-old Muslim student committed suicide hours after he was reprimanded by his school principal in Maharashtra’s Akola. The boy’s family has stated that he was being abused by his teachers because of his Muslim identity.

Recently, an 8-year-old Muslim student was abused and threatened by his Hindu classmates at a school in BJP-ruled Gujarat’s Baroda, over his Muslim identity. 

Police open fire at alleged “cattle smuggler,” victim sustains bullet wound

In two separate incidents in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh’s Siddarthnagar and Kanpur, police fired gunshots at alleged “cattle smugglers,” who sustained ullet injuries in their legs. 

The incident is the latest in an ongoing trend of violent attacks against predominantly Muslim cattle traders by law enforcement. Over the last few months, multiple such injuries have occurred due to police firing.
