In Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, police confiscated the properties of five Muslim men for their alleged involvement in cattle slaughter and trade.
Meanwhile, in Morena, Madhya Pradesh, officials used bulldozers to demolish the houses of two Muslim men following allegations of cow slaughter. These demolitions come on the heels of a major string of demolitions across the state. Recently, the homes of two Muslim men were demolished in Seoni over similar allegations.
Muslim clerics arrested over post detailing rituals of animal sacrifice on Eid
Two Muslim religious leaders were arrested by the police for sharing an educational social media post describing the Islamic procedure for animal sacrifice on Eid-al-Adha.
The police alleged that the post could potentially “provoke breach of communal peace,” and was intended to “promote enmity” and offend the religious sentiments of Hindus.
Hindu militants raid luxury hotel over allegations of selling beef
In Indore, Madhya Pradesh, Hindu militants from the Bajrang Dal raided a luxury hotel over allegations of selling beef. Officials have taken meat samples and sent them to a laboratory for testing.
Recently, in Gujarat’s Vadodara, police shut down a shop over allegations of selling beef kebabs and samosas. Police in Uttar Pradesh also shut down two cafes and arrested a cafe owner for allegedly selling beef burgers as part of their menu, after a local Hindu supremacist leader complained that the food items hurt Hindu sentiments.
Hindu extremists attack truck driver over alleged cattle transport
In Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, Hindu extremist cow vigilantes assaulted a truck driver and another occupant for allegedly transporting cattle. Hindu militant mobs regularly attack Muslims over baseless accusations of committing crimes. These mobs, also known as cow vigilantes, assault and often lynch Muslims accused of transporting cattle or consuming beef.
Hindu militants hold rally held in support of those who mob lynched Muslim men
In Raipur, Chhattisgarh, thousands of Hindu militants from the Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad held a rally in support of the Hindu extremists who were arrested for the horrific mob lynching of three Muslim men.
On June 6, Chand Miyan, Guddu Khan, and Saddam Qureshi were brutally attacked by cow vigilantes while transporting cattle from Chhattisgarh to Odisha state. Miyan’s body was found under a 30-foot-high bridge, along with Qureshi and Khan, who were critically injured. Khan died in the hospital soon after, and Qureshi died ten days later.
Police open fire at alleged “cattle smugglers,” victims sustain bullet wounds
In Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur, police fired gunshots at two alleged “cattle smugglers,” who sustained bullet injuries in their legs.
The incident is the latest in an ongoing trend of violent attacks against predominantly Muslim cattle traders by law enforcement. Multiple such injuries have occurred on a near-weekly basis due to police firings.
