Muslim teenager assaulted, tied to tree in Telangana

In Telangana’s Asifabad, a 19-year-old Muslim boy was assaulted and tied to a tree by a group of local Hindu residents. 

The teenager was allegedly seen with a Hindu girl from the neighboring village. The villagers accused him of misconduct, and proceeded to beat him severely. He was later taken into custody by police officials. Muslim leaders have described the incident as “mob-lynching style” vigilantism and criticized the rise of such incidents in the state. 

Hindu militants intervene to stop interfaith marriage in Madhya Pradesh

In Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal, Hindu militants from the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal intervened to stop an interfaith marriage between a Muslim man and a Hindu woman at a government office. 

They falsely alleged that it was a case of “love jihad” –  an anti-Muslim conspiracy theory that claims Muslim men have an agenda to seduce and convert Hindu women. The militants also threatened violence against non-Hindus.

Hindu extremists harass drivers, seize truck over alleged cow smuggling in Delhi

In the capital city of Delhi, a mob of Hindu extremist cow vigilantes led by Rocky Rana and Himanshu Batra seized a truck transporting cattle over allegations of smuggling cows, and harassed the drivers.

Hindu militant mobs regularly attack Muslims over baseless accusations of committing crimes. These mobs, also known as cow vigilantes, assault and often lynch Muslims accused of transporting cattle or consuming beef. 

Christian women harassed, threatened for distributing Bibles

In Maharashtra’s Kolhapur, two Christian women were harassed by a Hindu extremist for distributing Bibles. The man confronted them and demanded they never return to the area, accusing them of forcibly converting Hindus.

In BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut, Hindu extremists raided a Christian prayer meeting. They harassed attendees and alleged that the pastor was luring Hindus into converting to Christianity with promises of curing illnesses and by providing them with money.
