Muslim professor resigns over harassment for wearing Hijab
A Muslim professor, Sanjida Quader, resigned from her position at a college in West Bengal’s Kolkata, Sanjida Quader after facing repeated harassment for wearing a hijab. Quader reported that administrators told her she would not be allowed to enter the college wearing a hijab. A Muslim student, Soheli Akhter, was also harassed for entering the college wearing a hijab.
In recent years, several Muslim students have been denied entry into schools and colleges across India for wearing the hijab.
BJP supporters chant “Jai Sri Ram” outside mosque amid election victory celebration
Amid election victory celebrations, supporters of the far-right Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chanted the Hindu supremacist warcry “Jai Sri Ram” provocatively in front of a mosque in Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada.
Recently, BJP supporters also threw firecrackers at and attempted to break into the headquarters of a Muslim-owned news channel, MediaOne TV, in Kerala’s Kozhikode.

In BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly, police fired gunshots at an alleged “cattle smuggler,” who sustained a bullet injury in his leg.
The incident is the latest in an ongoing trend of violent attacks against predominantly Muslim cattle traders by law enforcement. Multiple such injuries have occurred on a near-weekly basis due to police firings.
