Police shoot at Muslim man accused of cow slaughter in Karnataka

Police officials in Karnataka’s Honavar shot a Muslim man in the leg and arrested him over allegations of cow slaughter. Police claim that they fired at him because he allegedly attempted to assault the police officers.

The incident is the latest in an ongoing trend of violent attacks against predominantly Muslim cattle traders by law enforcement. Last year, multiple injuries occurred on a near-weekly basis in northern states like Uttar Pradesh, due to police firings.

Police arrest seven Christians after Hindu militants attack, accuse them of forced conversion

Police in Chhattisgarh state arrested seven Christians after Hindu militants from the Bajrang Dal attacked and vandalized a house church, accusing them of forcibly converting Hindus to Christianity. A number of Christians were injured in the attack, and one person remains in critical condition.

Anti-conversion laws across BJP-ruled states have emboldened Hindu extremists, leading to increased harassment of Christians and attacks on their places of worship. Christian leaders, including the United Christian Forum (UCF), have condemned the violence, calling it anti-Christian propaganda. In 2024, UCF recorded 165 incidents of violence against Christians in Chhattisgarh.
