Muslim man assaulted, jailed after seen accompanying Hindu woman

In Madhya Pradesh’s Shujalpur, Hindu militants from the Bajrang Dal assaulted a Muslim man when they found him with a Hindu woman near a hotel. Despite the woman’s refusal to file a complaint against the man, the police booked and jailed him.

Hindu militants are known for violently policing interfaith relationships and interactions between Muslim men and Hindu women, resulting in Muslim men being publicly attacked, arbitrarily arrested, and sometimes lynched.  

Muslim woman arrested for feeding meat to stray dogs

A Muslim woman was arrested after being accused of throwing pieces of meat outside a temple in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh. Hindu locals claimed that the act was an attempt to disturb the peace during the ongoing Hindu festival. However, the police later clarified that the woman was feeding stray dogs, and not engaging in any deliberate provocation.

Syrian refugee, 11-month-old son attacked with acid in Delhi

Rafat Abmohimid, a Syrian refugee, and his 11-month-old son were victims of an acid attack in the capital city of Delhi. Reports indicate that a group of locals “intentionally targeted” them with corrosive substances during a confrontation.

Two years ago, Rafat lost his first child in a road accident in Karnataka’s Bangalore. Rafat has been recognised as a Syrian national, while his wife Marisa is from Thailand. The couple has been living on the road in front of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Delhi.

Police arrest Muslim activist over pro-Palestine tweets

Police in Rajasthan’s Ajmer have arrested a Muslim activist, Wajid Khan, based on the compliant of another local social media user. The police seized his mobile phone and announced that they are also trying to identify those who liked his posts. Wajid had been constantly been raising his voice in solidarity with Palestine against the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
