Modi delivers hate speech against Bangladeshi, Rohingya Muslims, calls them “infiltrators”
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a hate speech against Bangladeshi and Rohingya Muslims, claiming that they were “infiltrators” taking over positions in village councils in Jharkhand.
Several far-right Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders have been actively campaigning in the region, claiming that “Bangladeshi infiltrators” and “Rohingyas” are marrying tribal women to seize their land and property and use them as proxies to gain influence in the area. Rights groups and media outlets have found that such claims are false and not based on facts.
Modi’s 2024 electoral campaign frequently used hate speech against Muslims and other minorities. Human Rights Watch found that Modi made Islamophobic remarks in at least 110 of his 173 campaign speeches.

A court in the capital city of Delhi has acquitted ten Muslims who were arrested four years ago after being accused of rioting, arson, theft, and vandalism during the anti-Muslim Delhi pogrom in 2020.
The court concluded that the prosecution failed to present enough evidence to prove the charges and was unable to provide conclusive evidence linking them to the crimes.
It has been repeatedly established through independent investigations, including by Amnesty International, that the violence was carried out by Hindu extremists with the full support and participation of uniformed personnel of Delhi Police.
