IMC-USA congratulates all on India’s 58Th Republic Day

Indian Muslim Council-USA (http://www.imc-usa.org), an advocacy group dedicated towards safeguarding India’s pluralist and tolerant ethos, congratulates all Indians, including those living overseas, on the occasion of India’s 58th Republic Day.
India obtained its independence on August 15, 1947 but the Constitution of India came into effect on January 26, 1950. Every year this day is celebrated as ‘The Republic Day’ and is a national holiday in India . This day marks the transition of India from a British Dominion to a Republic with the adoption of the Constitution of India.
On the occasion celebrating the 58th Republic Day, Mr. Rasheed Ahmed, President of IMC-USA, said, “All of us Indians are very proud of India ‘s constitution. On this Republic day we need to be cognizant of the vision expounded by our forefathers in this wise and important document to create an India that represents the hopes and aspirations of all people irrespective of their religion and social standing.” He further appealed to all Indians to work together to honor India ‘s constitution by eliminating communally divisive politics and working towards making India a peaceful and prosperous nation.
IMC-USA is proud of India ‘s achievements and progress and urges the Indian government to launch social and economic programs on this historic day to ensure participation by all segments of society into the 21st century journey of challenges, growth and prosperity.
