The incident is part of a rising trend of mob violence targeting Muslims in India, often fueled by Hindu extremist groups using social media to glorify their actions and spread communal hatred.
Assuming Muslim identity, Hindu youth threatens to bomb Hindu pilgrimage festival
A Hindu youth from Bihar’s Purnia threatened a bomb attack on a Hindu pilgrimage festival under a Muslim name in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj. Police arrested Ayush Kumar Jaiswal after tracing the bomb threat, which was posted on social media under the false name “Nasir Pathan.”
The threat posted on Instagram reads: “All of you will be killed, In sha Allah. Are you people coming to Kumbh Mela? Such blast will take place that at least 1,000 will be killed. Allah Hu Akbar.”
Political leaders have noted that in the past few years, Hindu supremacists have staged similar incidents to spread hatred against the Muslim community.
Mughal-era monument demolished in Agra despite protection notification
A historic Mughal-era monument, Mubarak Manzil, has been largely demolished in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra, just months after the state archaeological department issued a notice to protect it. According to local residents, over 100 tractor-loads of debris were removed from the site after the demolition, which they claim was carried out by a builder in collusion with officials.
Just two weeks ago, officials visited the site to start preservation efforts. However, shortly after their visit, the demolition began, leaving the monument in ruins.
Hindu militants harass interfaith couple in Madhya Pradesh
In Madhya Pradesh’s Indore, Hindu militants from the Bajrang Dal harassed an interfaith couple. They baselessly accused the Muslim youth of engaging in “love jihad” and handed him over to the police.
Hindu militants are known for violently policing interfaith relationships and interactions between Muslim men and Hindu women, resulting in Muslim men being publicly attacked, arbitrarily arrested, and sometimes lynched.
