Devotees pray for communal harmony at ‘Alvida Namaz’
Jamshedpur, June 23 : Muslims in the city on Friday offered Jummat al Vida (last Friday of Ramdan) the Alvida Namaz with traditions and harmony.
Prayers were offered in all the Masjids of the city.
Muslims performmed, the faithful walk towards the mosque proclaiming aloud the glory and praise of Allah.
According to Islamic beliefs, when the faithful are on the way they are surrounded by the Angels and from the edges of the Ka’abah pours in blissful showers of mercy and forgiveness.
Muslims believe without any shadow of a doubt that the last Friday of Ramadan is the day for the acceptance of du’as (prayers).
With few days left the elderly people in the community along with the young lads helped in giving a facelift to the Masjids starting from cleaning the prayer hall, lighting, security and alloting spaces for stalls to distribute dry fruits, ajwaan, sheer Korma to accommodate and facilitate millions of devotees for celebrating this auspicious day in a grand manner. The end of Ramadan heralds the festival of Eid-ul-fitr.
Meanwhile, the Steel City is being decked up for the occasion Eid. Markets at Sakchi, Mango, Bistupur and Jugsalai are decked up with different types of goodies.
The people along with family comes out for shopping soon after breaking fast and are seen busy by buying shoes, suits, ready-made garments and other items for Eid.
Most of the shopping markets in Sakchi, Bistupur and Mango have artistically been decorated and illuminated with colorful lights and buntings to attract buyers especially during night.
Bulk of the shopping centers and fashionable markets have been flooded with domestic and foreign goods as shopkeepers have displayed varieties of ready-made garments, cloths, suits, shoes, cosmetics, eye-catching jewelry and quality three-piece-suits for youth that were rarely seen in the past in the lucrative markets of the city .
Security arrangements are also in placed. Magistrates would be deployed in the city as part of beefed up security for peaceful observance of Eid.
Pickets would be posted and round the clock patrolling done to maintain law and order, he said, adding peace committee meetings have been held with various communities, who have assured cooperation for peaceful observance of the festival.
Shopkeepers and neighbours in areas where these people reside have been requested to help them in case of any eventuality. Besides police vehicles, private vehicles have been hired for patrol and plainclothes police would do the rounds in all areas “to send a warning to mischief mongers that they would be caught and apprehended if they tried to create trouble.”
