Delhi authorities bulldoze home of Muslim man who helped rescue workers trapped in tunnel

In a profoundly unjust move, Delhi authorities bulldozed the home of a Muslim man who had just months ago been hailed as a hero for being part of a rescue mission to save 41 workers trapped in a collapsed tunnel. The home of Vakil Hassan was demolished as part of a demolition drive, which often target Muslim-majority neighborhoods and other vulnerable communities. 

Amnesty International has slammed India’s use of bulldozers to mete out collective punishment against minority communities a violation of international human rights law.

Hindu extremists attack Christian prayer meet

Members of Hindu extremist groups attacked a Christian prayer meet and assaulted worshippers, baselessly accusing the Christian community of forcing Hindus to convert to Christianity. During a subsequent investigation, police found the allegations to be false.

Hindu extremist leader threatens takeover of 30,000 mosques

A leader of the Hindu extremist group AntarRashtriya Hindu Parishad was filmed threatening a Hindu takeover of 30,000 mosques in India. Across the country, Hindu extremists have been demanding the demolition of major historic mosques – including Gyanvapi Masjid and Shahi Eidgah in Uttar Pradesh state – and calling for them to be replaced with Hindu temples.
