Cow vigilantes assault, parade truck drivers over alleged cattle transport

Hindu extremist cow vigilantes assaulted and paraded a truck driver for allegedly transporting cattle near Maharashtra state. In a similar incident in BJP-ruled Haryana’s Palwal, cow vigilantes thrashed a truck driver for transporting cattle.

Hindu militant mobs have increasingly been targeting Muslims over baseless accusations of committing crimes. These mobs, also known as cow vigilantes, attack and often lynch Muslims accused of transporting cattle or consuming beef. 

Six Christians arrested over allegations of forced conversion

In Dindori, Madhya Pradesh, police arrested six Christians after they were accused of forcibly converting Hindus to Christianity. Christians across states have been arrested under India’s draconian anti-conversion law, which criminalizes conversion away from Hinduism. 

PM Modi says Muslims must be stripped of job, school reservations  

Hindu supremacist Prime Minister Narendra Modi has continued spreading anti-Muslim propaganda in his speeches. At a rally in Maharashtra state, Modi declared that Muslims must be stripped of benefits provided by the reservation system, the Indian equivalent of affirmative action for disenfranchised minorities.

During a rally in Karnataka, Modi called Muslim political parties as “Aurangazeb parties”, referencing a Mughal Muslim ruler who is frequently demonized in Hindu supremacist understandings of history. Modi further claimed that Aurangazeb killed cows and broke temples. 

Hindu extremist leaders call for social boycott of Muslims, urge Hindus to take arms

In Jalna, Maharashtra, Hindu supremacist leader Savru Sonar called for a social boycott of Muslims and promoted the anti-Muslim conspiracy theory of love jihad during his speech at a Hindu festival. 

In Udaipur, Rajasthan, Hindu supremacist preacher Sadhvi Saraswati delivered a hate speech against Muslims. She promoted anti-Muslim conspiracy theories and called on Hindus to buy swords.

Police open fire at alleged “cattle smugglers,” victims sustain bullet wounds

In separate incidents in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur, police fired gunshots at two alleged “cattle smugglers,” who sustained bullet injuries in their legs. 

The incident is the latest in an ongoing trend of violent attacks against predominantly Muslim cattle traders by law enforcement. Multiple such injuries have occurred on a near-weekly basis due to police firings.
