BJP MLA Somashekara Reddy, Who Incited Violence Against Muslims Denied Anticipatory Bail By Karnataka Court
Extremist Karnataka BJP MLA Gali Somashekhara Reddy, who launched a barking tirade at Muslims, in Ballari on January 3, warning the community of “Hindu wrath”, was denied anticipatory bail by the Second Additional District and Sessions Court today. Fearing arrest, Reddy had filed anticipatory bail petition, however, Public Prosecutor Sunkanna opposed the anticipatory bail to the BJP MLA contending that the petitioner is facing grave charges of trying to disturb communal harmony.
Reddy, the brother of Gali Janardhana Reddy, a former Union Minister and the prime accused in the 2011 multi-crore Ballari mining scam, on Friday, had warned Muslims and anti-CAA protestors of “Hindu wrath” if the community does not stops protesting against the anti-Constitutional Citizenship Amendment Act and National Register of Citizens (NRC).
Addressing a rally in north Karnataka’s Ballari, Reddy said: “We are 80 percent and you are just 17 percent. Imagine what will happen to you if we turn against you,” to the thumping cheers of BJP supporters and workers. “This is my warning to you (Muslims), only 5 percent are here (at the event), if you create more trouble, if 100 percent of us come, you should understand what will happen to you,” the hate-spewing extremist legislator had said.…
